New Delhi. Preparations for this year's Durga Puja have begun across the country. Swami Sarvalokananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, shared with Positive Media the history and special features of Durga Puja at the Mission.
He said that at the New Delhi centre, Devi Jagran and Durga Puja have been started in a very grand, sattvic and scripturally authentic manner since the year 2023. Earlier, puja was performed only with a picture (photo) on Ashtami day. At the Mission, the puja will begin on Durga Shashti on 16th October and continue till Vijayadashami.
*Sattvikta and Devotion:* Here, puja is performed on Saptami, Ashtami and Navami, and Visarjan on Dashami. Instead of external show and ostentation, emphasis is laid on inner devotion, simplicity and observance of scriptural methods.
*The True Spirit and 'Theme' of Durga Puja*
*True Objective:* The fundamental purpose of worshipping Maa Durga is that we become good human beings and ideal citizens. Our inner evil tendencies (vices) should end and our hearts should be filled with noble thoughts.
*'Demons' of the Modern Age:* Referring to the slaying of Mahishasura by Maa Durga, he said that in today's times, evils are hidden within people in the form of evil tendencies and negative thoughts. Therefore, puja should not be merely for feasting or pomp and show, but for self-improvement and awakening inner devotion.
*Significance of Navratri and Various Forms*
*Nine Forms of the Mother:* A devotee is not satisfied with one form, he wants to worship the Mother in various forms. That is why in Sanatan Dharma there is a tradition of worshipping many forms of God.
*Primacy of Inner Feeling:* Whether a person observes a fast, takes fruits or offers sattvic or rajasic bhog, the most important thing is whether true devotion towards the Mother is awakening in his heart or not.
*Message for Youth and Society*
*Swami Vivekananda's Prayer:* Youth should adopt the spirit of Swami Vivekananda, who prayed to Maa Jagadamba that his weakness and cowardice be removed and that he become a true 'Man'.
*Need for Sanskar:* Expressing concern over the growing violence and weakness in society and among youth today, he said that instead of putting children only in the race for marks or jobs, parents should teach them good sanskar, spirit of service and to become noble human beings.
*Tradition of Puja at Various Centres of Ramakrishna Mission*
*Two Types of Methods:* At some centres (like Bengal and some main branches) puja is performed elaborately from Saptami to Dashami by making an idol, while at most centres in India and abroad, puja is performed with a photo on Ashtami day itself.
*Appeal to Devotees:* In the end, he urged all devotees to pray that Maa may remove the weaknesses of our minds and violent feelings and make us noble and ideal human beings.

दुर्गा पूजा 2026:
मन की दुर्बलताओं और हिंसा भाव को दूर कर हम एक नेक और आदर्श इंसान बनें- स्वामी सर्वलोकानंद
नई दिल्ली। देशभर में इस साल की दुर्गा पूजा की तैयारियां शुरू हो गई हैं। रामकृष्ण मिशन,नई दिल्ली के सचिव स्वामी सर्वलोकानंद ने पाॅजिटिव मीडिया को मिशन की दुर्गा पूजा का इतिहास व विशेषता बताई। उन्होंने कहा कि नई दिल्ली स्थित केंद्र में वर्ष 2023 से देवी जागरण और दुर्गा पूजा की शुरुआत बहुत ही भव्य, सात्विक एवं शास्त्रसम्मत रीति से की गई। इससे पहले केवल अष्टमी के दिन चित्र (फोटो) में पूजा होती थी। मिशन में 16 अक्टूबर को दुर्गा षष्ठी से पूजा शुरू होकर विजयादशमी तक चलेगी।
सात्विकता और भक्ति : यहाँ सप्तमी, अष्टमी और नवमी को पूजा तथा दशमी को विसर्जन होता है। पूजा में बाहरी दिखावे और आडंबर के बजाय आंतरिक भक्ति, सरलता और शास्त्रोक्त विधियों के पालन पर जोर दिया जाता है।
दुर्गा पूजा का वास्तविक भाव व 'थीम'
सच्चा उद्देश्य : माँ दुर्गा की पूजा का मूल उद्देश्य यही है कि हम अच्छे मनुष्य और आदर्श नागरिक बनें। हमारे भीतर की कुप्रवृत्तियाँ (दुर्गुण) समाप्त हों और हृदय श्रेष्ठ विचारों से भर जाए।
आधुनिक युग के 'राक्षस' : माँ दुर्गा द्वारा महिषासुर के वध का उल्लेख करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि आज के समय में बुराइयाँ लोगों के भीतर कुप्रवृत्तियों और नकारात्मक विचारों के रूप में छिपी हैं। इसलिए पूजा मात्र खान-पान या तड़क-भड़क के लिए नहीं, बल्कि आत्म-सुधार और आंतरिक भक्ति भाव जागृत करने के लिए होनी चाहिए ।
नवरात्र एवं विभिन्न रूपों की महत्ता
माँ के नौ रूप : भक्त किसी एक रूप से संतुष्ट नहीं होता, वह माँ को विभिन्न स्वरूपों में पूजना चाहता है। इसी कारण सनातन धर्म में ईश्वर के कई रूपों की उपासना की परंपरा है।
आंतरिक भाव की प्रधानता : व्यक्ति चाहे उपवास रखे, फलाहार करे या सात्विक अथवा राजसिक भोग लगाए, सबसे महत्वपूर्ण यह है कि उसके हृदय में माँ के प्रति सच्चा भक्ति भाव जागृत हो रहा है या नहीं।
युवाओं और समाज के लिए संदेश
स्वामी विवेकानंद की प्रार्थना : युवाओं को स्वामी विवेकानंद के भाव को अपनाना चाहिए, जिन्होंने माँ जगदम्बा से प्रार्थना की थी कि उनकी दुर्बलता और कायरता दूर हो और वे सच्चे 'मनुष्य' बनें।
संस्कारों की आवश्यकता : आज समाज और युवाओं में बढ़ती हिंसा व दुर्बलता पर चिंता जताते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि माता-पिता को बच्चों को केवल अंक लाने या नौकरी पाने की होड़ में डालने के बजाय अच्छे संस्कार, सेवा भाव और श्रेष्ठ इंसान बनने की सीख देनी चाहिए।
रामकृष्ण मिशन के विभिन्न केंद्रों में पूजा की परंपरा
दो प्रकार की पद्धतियाँ : कुछ केंद्रों (जैसे बंगाल और कुछ मुख्य शाखाओं) में प्रतिमा बनाकर सप्तमी से दशमी तक विस्तृत रूप से पूजा होती है, जबकि देश-विदेश के अधिकांश केंद्रों में अष्टमी के दिन फोटो में ही पूजा-अर्चना संपन्न की जाती है ।
श्रद्धालुओं से अपील : अंत में उन्होंने सभी श्रद्धालुओं से यही प्रार्थना करने का आग्रह किया कि माँ हमारे मन की दुर्बलताओं और हिंसा भाव को दूर कर हमें एक नेक और आदर्श इंसान बनाएँ।
